As Vice-Director for the past four years, it has been both
a privilege and a pleasure to work with and support Director Frank Fallon in
representing and advancing the interests of amateur radio operators in the ARRL
Hudson Division. Please vote
for me so I can continue this important job.
I am particularly pleased to have joined with Frank in spearheading a committee formed to obtain amateur tower-height relief legislation in New York State. This is an issue that is of enormous importance to the amateur community, and one in which I have personal experience, having been forced to sue my local town after being denied the right to put up a tower. In a short period of time, we were successful in having an antenna-rights bill introduced in both the NY State Assembly and Senate.
I am also proud to be one of only two Vice-Directors
currently serving on more than one national board committee (out of the fifteen
elected Vice-Directors, only five serve on any committees at all). For the past
two years I have been the board’s liaison to the Public Relations Committee,
which furthers nationwide efforts to raise public awareness of amateur radio
through the news media. I also have been appointed to the newly-formed
Spectrum Strategy Committee, which will deal with the ever-increasing incursions
into our amateur bands by manufacturers of wireless devices. In that
capacity, I expect my employment in the field of Information Technology to be a
valuable asset, since it enables me to learn early-on about new developments
--and, consequently, threats to amateur radio-- stemming from the rapid
expansion of wireless networking technologies such as Bluetooth.
My amateur radio experience is rich and varied. Licensed since the age of fifteen, my current primary interests are dx and contests. I'm a member of the DXCC honor roll and also have a 5BDXCC award. I have been active in public service as a long-time member of ARES/RACES, serving on the TWA 800 disaster, and I am an accredited ARRL Volunteer Examiner. In addition to several terms as a Hudson Division assistant director, I have served as both a member and chairman of the ARRL Contest Advisory Committee (CAC). I am a member and past-president of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club (YCCC), a member of the Westchester Emergency Communications Association (WECA) and a member of the Peekskill/Cortlandt Amateur Radio Association (PCARA).
When you receive your ballot in the mail, please don’t forget to send it in....every vote counts!
